The Caledonia Agricultural Society was founded in 1873 making us the oldest organization in the community. We sponsor the Caledonia Fall Fair. The first fair was held in Edinburgh Square and moved to the present fairgrounds in 1878. Fairs exist under a provincial statute called the Agricultural and Horticultural Societies Act which grants us incorporation as a not for profit organization. To maintain this privilege, we are required to promote agricultural awareness and rural life. We are also a member of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (O.A.A.S.) which oversees the 222 fairs in Ontario.
The Fair Board comprises:
— Board of Directors
— Committee Members
— Junior Members
— Honorary Members
The Board of Directors consists of 27 Members elected by Committee Members. The Board, in turn, elects the Executive. The Executive includes the following: President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Past President, Homecraft President, Homecraft 1st Vice-President, and Homecraft Assistant to the Manager. Members are awarded the status of Honorary Member if they have served on the Fair Board for a minimum of 20 years.
